3 cups AP flour
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
1 1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup butter
¼ cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp light corn syrup
1 tbs vanilla extract
1/3 cup sour cream
lollipop sticks
Frostings:
Black half:
¼ cup light corn syrup
5 cups powdered sugar
2 oz. melted unsweetened dark chocolate
White half:
Same as above but omit chocolate. Stirring in 1 tbs. water and 1 tsp vanilla extract as needed for smooth consistency.
Preheat oven to 350. Beat sugar, butter, shortening till fluffy. Add eggs, corn syrup and vanilla. Beat in half of the dry ingredient mixture. Beat in sour cream. Stir in remaining flour mix. Roll into 3 tbs sized balls and pat down on greased baking sheets to a 3-inch thickness. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
While cookies bake, prepare frostings. Spread white and black frosting on each side in a vertical design.

Sour cherry mascarpone mix:
1 8 oz. container mascarpone
2 tbs. sour cherry jam
Stir ingredients together and serve in a small bowl with rosemary crackers
Smoked salmon hearts:
1 package of flatbreads (Naan was used in this recipe from Whole Foods)
1 8 oz. package of smoked salmon
1 8 oz. container of whipped cream cheese
Cut flatbreads into the shape of hearts with scissors. Spread with whipped cream cheese and layer the smoked salmon on top.
Red wine and red pepper drunken flank steaks:
1 bottle dry red wine
1 16 oz. can crushed tomatoes
2 red peppers sliced thinly
1 large clove garlic, crushed and sliced
1 cup of beef broth
1 medium onion
1 can adobe sauce
1 medium flank steak
Add in all ingredients to a crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours or until tender. Serve with crostini to use for dipping into the drunken marinade.
Tuxedo strawberries
1 pint strawberries, stems removed
12 oz. white chocolate
16 oz. dark chocolate.
Clean and dry strawberries. Melt the white chocolate in microwave on medium power in 30-second intervals. Stirring until smooth. Dip each strawberry in completely and set aside on wax paper to harden.
Melt dark chocolate as described above. Dip white chocolate strawberries in a v-side pattern (see photo) to make each side of the tuxedo jacket. Set back on clean wax paper until hardened. Serve immediately.
